The Fourth Chakra

November 10, 2017

Chakras are energy awareness centers. They are the revolving doors of creativity and communication between spirit and the world. For the purpose of this reading, we are covering the seven major chakras...that line up in front of the spinal column from your tailbone to the crown of your head. Except for the crown chakra, each chakra is connected on an electrical level to a nerve plexus and is also related to the endocrine glands and controls their operation.

As you face the chakra, it looks like a spinning disc of energy colors. The inner part of the chakra spins clockwise and the outer parts spin counterclockwise. The energy from the inner portion of the chakras travels through a network of energetic channels and through the cells of the body to manifest around the body as layers of colors called the aura. When all the chakras are functioning optimally, the energy from the outer part of the chakras shows up as a counter revolving layer of electric blue light in between each layer of the aura that keeps the layers protected and distinct in their own vibrations.

Abilities - Your spiritual abilities are those abilities contained within you, the being. You were born already having these abilities. When you choose to become conscious and learn how to work with your abilities, you can more easily access them and use them in your life, to create what it is you want. Clairvoyance, clairaudience, telepathy, healing, clairsentience, knowing, are some of the abilities contained within your energy system, and in your chakras.

Tonight, we are focusing on the fourth chakra.

The Fourth Chakra, located in the middle of the chest, is the heart chakra. It is a magnetic energy center of “oneness.” The basic function of this chakra is affinity. It deals with your ability to be yourself while you are at one with another. It is here that you determine where you are with others and how you feel about them. While the second chakra feels the sensation of things, the fourth chakra let you feel how you feel in relationship to things.

The middle chakra mediates between the body and the spirit and determines their health and strength. It contains the ability to love and feel compassion, both for oneself and the world outside.

Spiritual teacher, Dr. Lesley Phillips, talks about affinity and oneness:

Affinity is a force that combines things or energies and creates the experience of oneness. You learned about it in school when your chemistry teacher taught you about chemical reactions. But it is also found in spiritual attractions and in the case of human relationships is often based on affection. Affinity is neither good nor bad; it is not positive or negative, but is a neutral force. The purpose of affinity is to allow us to experience oneness with another as spirit.

Your affinity makes it possible for you to have love and affinity for yourself, your creations, as well as other people, creatures, and life in general. Affinity is a wonderful healing energy to have available in your life.

Affinity is also the attraction between you (a spiritual being) and your body. As such it is where you carry your "self-image". Many confuse it with the notion of love, but "love", an advanced spiritual concept, is the activation of the third, fourth and fifth chakras -- reality, attraction and communication.

Oneness

Another term for oneness is unity consciousness; it relates to a connectedness with all life, including with family, community, people, plants, animals and the Earth. You know you are experiencing oneness when you accept things and people as they are, without judgment or expectations.

If you allow oneness with God you can learn to love yourself and others because it enables you to see how each and everyone is within the overall divine plan. Oneness helps you realize you are part of the whole and also to know where you fit within the total pattern. When you are experiencing oneness you gain satisfaction and peace in fulfilling your unique part. Meditation is a great way to experience oneness, as it can help you let go of your physical focus.

Carolyn Myss writes about meanings of the chakra system in her book, Anatomy of the Spirit. In speaking of the abilities of the fourth center:

Primary strengths, related to the 4th chakra: love, forgiveness, compassion, dedication, inspiration, hope, trust, and the ability to heal when self and others.

The “sacred truth” of the fourth chakra:  Love is the divine power. Love in its purest form—unconditional love—is the substance of the Divine, with its endless capacity to forgive us and respond to our prayers. Our own hearts are designed to express beauty, compassion, forgiveness, and love. It is against our spiritual nature to act otherwise.

The expression, “If you can't love yourself, you can't love anyone else,” is commonplace. Loving oneself as a fourth chakra challenge means having the courage to listen to the heart emotional messages and spiritual directives.

Self-love means caring for ourselves enough to forgive people in our past so that the wounds can no longer damage us...for our wounds do not hurt the people who hurt us, they hurt only us.

Primary fears related to the fourth chakra. Fears of loneliness, commitment, and following one's heart; fear of inability to protect oneself emotionally; fear of emotional weakness and betrayal. Loss of fourth chakra energy can give rise to jealousy, bitterness, anger, hatred, and an inability to forgive others as well as oneself.

Forgiveness

More than any other chakra, the fourth represents our capacity to “let go and let God.” By releasing our emotional pain, by letting go of our need to know why things have happened as they have, we reach a state of tranquility. In order to achieve that inner peace, however, we have to embrace the healing energy of forgiveness and release our lesser need for human, self-determined justice.

Healing is possible through acts of forgiveness. In the life and teachings of Jesus, forgiveness is a spiritual active protection, but it is also a physical healing act. Forgiveness is no longer merely an option but a necessity for healing. Jesus always first healed his patients’ emotional suffering; the physical healing then followed naturally.

We get out of the 4th chakra by going through it and learning its lessons.

Myss contends, “Everything, in and about our lives, runs off the fuel of our hearts. We will all have experiences meant to “break our hearts,” not in half but wide open. Regardless of how your heart is broken, your choice is always the same: what will you do with your pain? Will you use it as an excuse to give fear more authority over you, or can you release the authority of the physical world over you through an act of forgiveness? The question contained within the 4th chakra will be presented to you again and again in your life, until the answer you give becomes your own liberation.”

More about the Anatomy of the Chakra:

Energy Anatomy –

Chakra Four Organs: Heart and circulatory system; lungs; shoulders and arms; ribs/breasts; diaphragm; thymus gland.

Mental, Emotional Issues: Love and hatred; resentment and bitterness; grief; self-centeredness; loneliness and commitment; forgiveness and compassion; hope and trust.

Physical Dysfunctions: Congestive heart failure; myocardial infarction (heart attack); asthma/allergy; lung cancer; bronchial pneumonia; upper back, shoulder; breast cancer.

When the fourth chakra is flowing and open, we feel deeply connected to everyone in our life. But when it’s obstructed, we experience loneliness and a sense of alienation.

One of the key signs of a healthy fourth chakra is a loving sense of humor about the self. (amusement, levity, taking light of oneself). The healthy heart is dedicated to instinctual self-care.

Re-opening the heart chakra is as difficult as it is imperative. The requirements are not only foolhardy bravery, but a willingness to let go of long-cherished beliefs about lovelessness. Love exists everywhere, but one has to believe in love before it can be seen or felt.

A time dedicated to our Spiritual and Physical balance and harmony. Everyone is welcome. No previous experience with any spiritual teaching is needed. This meeting is recommended as a “Spiritual Support” to help all of us face our challenges and overcome them with balance and wisdom.
